The Unlock Foundation team in the USA, Ghana, and Namibia stand together with the families of the missing girls in Nigeria to #BringBackOurGirls
Unfortunately, denying girls an education is not new and the kidnapping and sex trafficking of schoolgirls is not new either. While the merits of this social media campaign can be debated, it has shined a powerful light on the critical state of girls' education globally and the barriers young women face each day just to attend school. We know that education is vital, but gender discrimination, health issues, shortage of resources, humanitarian crises, violence, cultural oppression, and unaffordable costs are keeping millions of children, specifically girls, out of school. Nigeria and the international community must come together to bring these girls back to their families, but we must also ensure that all children have the right to an education worldwide.
The best way to honor the missing girls in Nigeria is to support and empower the 66 million girls who are currently growing up without an education and continue to speak out for their rights!
