PROJECT 2020: ACHIEVING SUSTAINABLE EDUCATION FOR ALL
At Unlock Foundation’s three partner schools in Namibia and Ghana, this is a moment of great promise. The classroom infrastructure is improving, teachers have new materials and resources for their lessons, students are studying in healthier learning environments, and more children have access to a quality education.
But our work is not complete.
This summer we are launching Project 2020 - our commitment to ensure that by the year 2020, every student at our partner schools can regularly attend class, meet educational standards, and more importantly, the schools and communities can sustain that level of success themselves.
To kick off the project, Unlock Foundation Co-Founders, Scott Karrel and Michelle Shapiro, traveled to Namibia in September 2014 to work with our in-country team to develop a 5-year strategic plan that addresses key challenges facing the students and provides concrete steps toward sustainable progress. This long-term development blueprint will strengthen our capacity to address critical educational gaps, and reaffirm our commitment to these communities.
